Until 2008, I was a big consumer and user of material possessions. I was the average consumer. I lived the american dream. I after my law practice became successful I spent everything I earned. I bought the 3,000 square foot home and the BMW.
These items did not bring me joy or happiness. In fact they ruined my heath to some extent.
In 2008, I was not able to continue to run on the hamster wheel to keep and maintain all the material possessions I had acquired. It was time to deleverage and get healthy.
Today in 2016, I am a empty nester living in a 705 Square foot condominium with my wife of of 24 years and our Yorkshire terrier. I have managed to eliminate all of my debts. When I started. Everything I owned could fit in a good sized movie theater. Now I could fit everything I own into a mid sized U-Haul rental truck. Downsizing makes life simple and relaxing. I want to go further.
In the future I am striving to eliminate more items. I would like to get to the point where I can carry everything I own on my back. You may think this is not possible. We will see. I look forward to this journey.
